Why do we look up who in the public eye has recently died?  They represent a "finality" to a talented singer, guitar player, writer, movie screen genius, and even the end of dictatorships.  

Their effect on all was either negative (dictators) or positive (entertainers who touched our hearts), especially for actors, songwriters, and other artists, who have been a part of our lives through a song, a scene, a painting.  

Despite the finality of celebrity deaths, we can remember how we felt, cried, got mad, etc. because of their works which connect all of us.  Through their work, there is still one place where all people can go cry or laugh together, for example.
