 The
most apparent "advertisers" of tattoos today seem to
be athletes and movie stars. For example, at the height of
the NBA season, during the playoffs and finals, many players don
their tattoos and there are many kinds of styles and
tastes--mostly on the players' upper arms.
A famous tattooing session as
far as movie stars include the "Fellowship" from the Lord
of the Rings movies.
In the 1950s a woman who smoked
was seen as a "bad" girl. Today, a woman with a
tattoo may have a similar connotation. This can also apply
to the men.
 In addition to the connotations
of tattoos, celebrity tattoos can have many other
meanings: a time to celebrate, something to do to pass the
time, a way to "stretch the boundaries," a mark of
uniqueness, a way to express oneself, a reconnection with non-conformitive
ways, a symbol to challenge established rules, or simply because
tattoos are pretty.
