matthew macfadyen has been finding screen work since 1998.
He has lended his talents as narrator, thanks to his voice, and
has worked on many TV shows, including the BBC hit,
Spooks. From there, he has displayed his obvious acting
talent on the big screen, including the role of Mr. Darcy, in
2005's Pride and Prejudice.
Anytime an
actor is asked to dress up more than in the usual modern day
clothes, the acting must be very good to keep modern day
audiences from being distracted. First, the acting, then
the sets, camera angles, landscapes, etc. come next. If
the acting cannot keep modern eyes from focusing too much on how
the fashion is completely out of touch with time, then the movie
can become an uphill battle. However, Macfadyen's Darcy is
timeless, no matter how he is dressed.
