depp has been around for a long time and this is proof of his
acting talent. From Scissorhands to a river rat to Jack
Sparrow and Wonka he has shown his ability to take on
"unsafe" roles.
For example,
a pirate is a tricky role because of preconceptions from the
audience. Depp pulls it off by creating an original,
likable pirate. Imagine him accepting this project and
figuring out how he will portray Sparrow. The exciting
thing is, he succeeds in his portrayal. The writer writes
it, but Depp brings the character to life. Even his
costar, Orlando Bloom, said he read Sparrow's character very
differently from the way Depp was portraying it. More on Johnny

Even if
Johnny Depp's
popularity were to wane, and this does happen to the best of
them, his characters are very memorable.
Let's hope he
