You can't
help but admire christian bale in rescue dawn movie. He
takes on a role where he gets in the mud, muck, dirt, leeches,
jungle vine, banana leaves for blankets and on top of it all,
ends up eating worms and snake. Even if the worms and
snake are fake, the artist, the actor, makes it so
believable--that's why it's art. If they're real, then
give Bale medals for bravery.
Not only
that, he looks like he lost weight to look the part as he is
imprisoned and must survive in the jungle.
The humor of
survival at the beginning of the movie becomes real for the rest
of the movie.
Christian
Bale did not opt for the posh job in this movie, and so one
can't help but continue to become a fan. He can be in the
jungle, not say a word and you care what happens next. He
can deliver a pretty lengthy monologue and keep you in the
moment during his description of what got him into flying.
He also makes
you feel the immediate fear of being shot at the kitchen scene
when he finds himself the only one going through with the plans
of the imprisoned group.
This is a
great actor you should watch again.
